BMC Comps Committee

At the most recent BMC Comps Committee times were agreed for qualification to the GB Speed Team. These will be listed on the BMC website shortly.

They are also hoping to get funds for a Youth Bouldering Team at a Council meeting next month so fingers crossed. If the money becomes available selection procedures should then be announced.

MCofS Youth Climbing Questionnaire

MCofS want your views on the development of Youth Climbing in Scotland.  A questionnaire has been emailed to everyone that took part in the 2011 YCS and SYCC.  If you need another copy please email me at abgall@blueyonder.co.uk.

Deadline for submission is 17th Dec and there is a bouldering bag and guidebook up for grabs for completed forms.

British Lead and Speed Climbing Championships 15/16 October 2011

The British Lead Climbing Championships (BLCC) are spread over the weekend with the Juniors (under 20) climbing on the Saturday and the Seniors (16 and over) on the Sunday.  Held at the Edinburgh International Climbing Arena in Ratho (EICA:Ratho) the route setters (Neil McGeachy, Gary Vincent and Mark Pretty) had been hard at work for 2 days putting together challenging routes for the 79 climbers competing in the 10 junior categories and the Male Veterans.

There were 12 Quickdraws taking part and while fortunes were mixed there were some gutsy climbs on display.

Youth Climbing Series 2012

Major changes to the age groups for 2012 to reflect IFSC categories.  Good news is that this year's 16 year olds now have a further year in which to take part in the event.
